Unidirectional Charge Instability of the d-Wave Resonating Valence Bond Superconductor

چکیده
Starting from a uniform d-wave superconducting phase we study the energy cost due to imposed unidirectional defects with a vanishing pairing amplitude. Both renormalized mean-field theory and variational Monte Carlo calculations within the t–J model yield that the energies of inhomogeneous and uniform phases are very close to each other. This suggests that small perturbations in the microscopic Hamiltonian might lead to inhomogeneous superconducting phases in real materials as observed in recent scanning tunneling microscopy on Ca2−xNaxCuO2Cl2.

Charge-ordered resonating valence bond states in doped cuprates
We study charge ordered d-wave resonating valence bond states sdRVBd in the doped cuprates, and estimate the energies of these states in a generalized t-J model by using a renormalized mean-field theory. The longrange Coulomb potential tends to modulate the charge density in favor of the charge ordered RVB state. The possible relevance to the recently observed 434 checkerboard patterns in tunne...
متن کاملd-Wave Superconductivity, Orbital Magnetism, and Unidirectional Charge Order in the t–J Model
Recent scanning tunneling microscopy in the superconducting regime of two different cuprate families revealed unidirectional bond-centered modulation in the local electronic density of states. Motivated by this result we investigate the emergence of modulated d-wave superconductivity coexisting with charge domains that form along one of the crystal axes. While detailed stripe profiles depend on...
متن کاملd-Wave resonating valence bond states of fermionic atoms in optical lattices.
We study controlled generation and measurement of superfluid d-wave resonating valence bond (RVB) states of fermionic atoms in 2D optical lattices. Starting from loading spatial and spin patterns of atoms in optical superlattices as pure quantum states from a Fermi gas, we adiabatically transform this state to an RVB state by a change of the lattice parameters. Results of exact time-dependent n...
متن کاملHalf-filled layered organic superconductors and the resonating-valence-bond theory of the hubbard-heisenberg model.
We present a resonating-valence-bond theory of superconductivity for the Hubbard-Heisenberg model on an anisotropic triangular lattice. Our calculations are consistent with the observed phase diagram of the half-filled layered organic superconductors, such as the beta, beta', kappa, and lambda phases of (BEDT-TTF)2X [bis(ethylenedithio)tetrathiafulvalene] and (BETS)2X [bis(ethylenedithio)tetras...
متن کامل3 M ar 1 99 9 The two - leg t − J ladder : A mean - field description
Two-leg t − J ladders are investigated in the framework of a combination of the phase string formulation and bond-operator representation. We develope a mean-field theory in the strong rung interaction regime, i.e. J ⊥ ≫ J, t, which provides a unified description of the undoped insulating phase and the low doping phase — the so-called C1S0 phase. Both of them are characterized by the resonating...
